This time of year is when spiritual happenings become stronger, the veil is thinning and it's a beautiful time to connect with loved one's that have passed on to the other side, some you knew, others you did not, yet they are there, loving and supporting you none the less.
The veil between the world around us and the spiritual world begins to thin with the Fall Equinox here in the Northern Hemisphere, when day and night are in equal balance. The weather becomes cooler and Mother Earth begins to slow down, she worked hard through Spring and Summer, Autumn then becomes the time to enjoy the bounty that has been grown. Mother Earth will then prepare for sleep as the Winter months come upon us, and the bounty is many because the people worked in harmony with her and now give gratitude and thanks going into winter stillness with full bellies, hearts and homes.
This is the natural cycles of the Earth and us. There once was a time when people worked in harmony with these energies and cycles and they were healthier and happier for it. They were deeply in tune with the energy of Mother Earth, the Stars and the Ancestors and the, "veil" was thin all year long, their connection a daily relationship with these energies .
In the modern day we talk about the veil thinning, but this is a modern term, people of the ancients were in deep connection with the spirit world around them every day. The Equinoxes were a powerful time, when the sun and moon, day and night were in equal balance, this creates a lot of energetic power, the very thing that is needed to connect with the higher vibration spirit world beyond ourselves.
The ancients knew they could partner with this energy and it would help guide them for their community, their family and themselves, they didn’t try to fight the energy or go against it, they were in tune with it, deep connection with Mother Earth and her children. It was natural, this was such a part of their life, they were raised to understand, initiations and ceremonies were performed at certain times of their lives to fully develop this relationship, and their own abilities to work with that energy or power.
Community was everything to them and using one’s own gifts within that community was vital for a thriving, happy community. The Ancients knew that working together bringing their greatest gifts and sharing it within the community was important, and through it they created amazing things. In my mentors lands, in the Andean mountains they built Machu Pichu, the City in the Clouds, and places like Mesa Verde where they built cave dwellings, homes in the sides of cliffs so they could maximize the land for crops and abundance for their people.
There are a lot of unanswered questions and assumptions about how these natural wonders came to be, but one thing is for sure, everyone worked together, they helped each other thrive, they had a cooperating energy with one another and gratitude for the natural world.
One thing I have personally come to understand in my studies and initiations with my teachers, the Master Shamans of Peru, is they enjoy life, they celebrate and honor the land and animals around them, giving thanks to the land that has produced their crops, the animals that have given them wool and the clothes that keep them warm, the meat that has kept them strong and each other and their love for one another.
I was once asked to think of the people I enjoy most spending my time with and hands down it has been my mentors and teachers and now my extended family as they call themselves, something they call my Allyu, the Apaza family of the Kiko Quero Nation of Peru. They are proud of their heritage, they are warm, kind, generous and open hearted and extremely strong and powerful, the kind of power that is not used to suppress another, but instead used to help their communities and Mother Earth, one of the many attributes we could learn as a modern society.
As we approach a time of many celebrations and coming together, while the veil is thin and the spirit world more active, take the time to honor your ancestors, think of them not for the hard times or the negative but for their positive attributes. Honor your ancestors that you did not ever know, the ones who at one point lived in harmony, balance and great abundance within their communities.
Look to the mountains, the waters, the land and express gratitude for how they have given you the food you eat, the clothes you wear and the home that keeps you warm, learn to take nothing for granted and honor what you have been given and watch how the world of energy and spirit begins to respond to you.
Life becomes more gentle, opportunities arise and your wounded heart begins to heal at a deep soul level as you begin to understand that you haven't ever been alone, and there has been this incredible love watching over you and alongside of you all along, they've just simply been waiting for you to engage with them.
An open heart is the most important gift you can give yourself for letting the highest vibration of love impact your world, and I guarantee that once you do life will begin to change and improve in incredible ways.
Always in the Service of Love,
Jen
