I don't know about you, but before I had a handle on my intense feelings, overwhelm was a familiar friend.

It's an emotion, driven by your thoughts.

The key is being willing to pay attention to your thoughts, and recognize them for what they are.
I'm curious if you ever find yourself "numbing out," and not wanting to feel anything, using things like, over-eating, over-drinking, over-spending and even over stuffing your house, and closet with things.
I have been really studying emotional eating and managing the tendency to use food to numb out and not feel so much, so I created this weeks podcast to share with you in hopes to be of service.
As an empath we feel everything on such a deep level and the sugar cravings and overeating can sometimes be one of our coping mechanisms to help us numb those feelings out and not have to deal with them.
You know the feeling, the donut screaming your name on the break room table. The Ben and Jerry's calling you from the freezer. At 82 pounds overweight I carried shame and fear, but not because of my weight.
Looking back I realize I felt those feelings well before I ever put the weight on with over-eating, and trying to numb out those feelings.
That shame led me to shitty boyfriends in school that abused me physically and emotionally. Did I truly understand my worth if I ended up in those situations?Or ended up in a religion that told me I had to have a husband to make it to the highest realms of heaven?
I carried deep rooted shame, shame from inner parts of me that needed healed, not shame from my weight, my weight was simply a symptom of the shame I carried.

I hope today finds you well. I am just coming in from being outside with the animals, maybe you don't know, but I run a 501(c) 3 federally recognized Non-Profit Animal Rescue, we call it Hillside Haven Pig Rescue, (although we have many kinds of animals here).
We've had rain here and they've all been cooped up. Horses that are usually turned out in big open spaces, were confined to smaller stalls under safe keeping from the weather.
This really got me thinking, are we making time for play? By we, I mean you and me and our society as a whole.
